Blogger Pick 3

by Heather
My google reader is overflowing with style blogs. I just can't get enough. Here are some of my favorite street looks this week from some of my favorite bloggers.

Love More. An easy, yet exciting dress with a great silhouette. It's perfect to dress up or down. I'm itching for springtime dressing! But for now, I would pair it with a thick cable-knit over-sized sweater, gray lace nylons, and over-the-knee boots.

Cupcakes and Cashmere. This is one of my favorite looks from Emily. I have a very similar lace vintage top (hers is F21) -- I'll have to wear it in a lookbook post soon. I adore the nude pumps.

Beckerman Bite Plate. What an amazing DIY idea! I'm going to make a similar pair with a few less hearts. Note to self: also a great idea for a tee.

AND bonus pick (this is "pick 3" but I had to post this one too)...

Keiko Lynn. This dress is from Target - the Rodarte line!! The bows on the back are a nice touch and the lace texture (cotton nylon blend) is great. Must get thee to Target!

Blogger Pick 3

by Heather
Blogger stalk with me...

via Style Bubble. I love this eclectic Londoner. Susie's writing is just as colorful as her fashion sense (although, ironically, I choose an outfit post lacking color).

via Beckerman Bite Plate. Gotta love sister blogs ;) Three blond mavens chronicling their outfits from Toronto.

via Fashionnerdic. This 18 year old shopping addict from the Netherlands has impeccable style.

It's been cold and rainy in Los Angeles, so I think I subconsciously picked grey and black color schemed fashion to go with my weather induced mood.

Blogger Pick 3

by Heather
Blogger stalk with me. Here's a pic I took of myself with my Mac camera while enjoying coffee, my yard, and blogger fashion looks.

via Mr. Newton. If they remade the TV series Fame, I think she would be on it. This look is so adorable.

Constance-Victoria. Her photos are always so artistic and she has great style.

4th And Bleeker. Alex's fashion sense is fun, but it's her witty writing that keeps me coming back. I wish she would post more often!

I think I was going for a monochromatic tone with these picks.

Stalking any new blogs lately?

Lookbook: Creme Brulee Haze

by Heather
I'm sitting here in a creme brulee coma. I swear I was only going to eat half, but the spoon just took over. It's that time of the month, so calories don't count -- similar to the vacation rule. I pray my booty understands this. And I promise the food themed lookbooks will stop soon.

Tweed jacket by S-Twelve (sample piece found for $20 on a sale rack at some random store on Main St. in SM); Blue knit dress by Alternative Apparel; Scarf by Alternative Apparel; Earrings by PrettyFine; Rings by PrettyFine; Boots by Franco Sarto (bought several years ago).

BTW, the movie "9 1/2 Weeks" is playing in the background as I'm working on my laptop. Too bad my BF isn't here while I'm eating my creme brulee ;) I can't remember the first time I watched it, certainly not '86, but it was a long time ago. And wow, Kim Basinger is stunning and Mickey Rourke was pretty sexy in his heyday (hard to image now). Gotta love the classic '80s fashion in this movie: over-sized silhouettes, shoulder pads, menswear influence, nylon stockings, heavy black eyeliner.

Lookbook: Mac 'n' Cheese Dressing

by Heather
This is the perfect dress for macaroni and cheese binges, which I've been on lately! I'm actually having some left-overs from my lunch as I type. It's from the Co-op in Santa Monica and it's so oohey-gooey-good.

This dress is very forgiving yet figure flattering. The fabric drapes beautifully with the cross-over panels and nice tailoring.

It's also great for layering which is essential for Southern Cali living. It has spaghetti straps so it's perfect for a warm afternoon and then I can throw on a jacket and tights for the cool night breeze off the ocean. It's always a bit chilly at night by the beach in Santa Monica.

Best of all it was only $45! Surprisingly, it's Billabong but looks high-end contemporary.

dress by Billabong; pleather jacket by Zara; necklace, bracelet, and earrings by Heirra (my handmade jewelry designs :)); thigh-high tights from StockingShopping.com; red leather purse by Carla Mancini (bought from Loehmann's a few years ago - my fav place for great bag finds); booties by Matisse (bought a few years ago); Rolling Stones "American Tour '81" vintage pin from Saint Thrift.

Happy Thursday! Not as good as Friday but heck of a lot better than Monday! I'm super excited because my BF comes back from his Tawain business trip tonight. :)

Lookbook: Power Bun

by Heather
I had no idea Mel was posting about hair buns yesterday; must be sistertuition. Here's my tight bun with a haphazard swirly wrap.

I feel very controlled yet sexy in this outfit...I should have worn my glasses and held a book for a sexy librarian look. As if I was a librarian by day and high class hooker by night. How else can I afford to pay my bills on a librarian salary? Haha, I'm on a tangent.

It was actually way too hot in Santa Monica over the weekend to sport this look, but I was jonesing for some fall getups after countless hours of blogger stalking. I mean it is November! But I relish the warm sun, so I'm not really complaining.

Dress from H&M (bought 2 years ago); denim wrap by Killah (bought 6 or 7 years ago on major sale); leather purse (with removable chain and loop attached in the back to fasten to your belt!) from some random shop on Main Street in SM [squealed with joy when I spotted it on sale]; tights from Stocking Shopping (great inexpensive novelty stockings online); boots by 2 Prima from Loehmann's about 3 years ago.

Blogger Pick 3

by Heather

I could spend hours, days, weeks lost in the blogger lookbook world. Who needs magazines anymore?! ...Well, the stack about to tip over by my couch might say otherwise. So I'm a fashion junkie; join in the fun with me.

via Late Afternoon. This San Francisco model has the best lookbooks, hands down. I'm madly in love.

via Keiko Lynn. Fiery and sweet. She designs her own line from her Brooklyn studio.

via Mint Vintage Junk. She's so cool. This soda machine lookbook post reminds me of the '97 Cindy Crawford Pepsi Ad, but less sex and more fashion.

Who's in your top 3?

Lookbook: Fashion Safety

by Heather

I'm all about comfy, casual, chic. Constantly searching for the great basic. I'm loving my new digs from Alternative Apparel (as seen in my previous two lookbook posts). Although, I may have to bust out a dress next week.

grey tee and sweat pants by Alternative Apparel; jewelry Heirra (my designs :)); over the knee boots by Miss Me; shirt from Saint Thrift.

Is your fashion priority comfort or looks? ...or both?!

Lookbook: Dreamy Cream

by Heather
The weather was pretty moody this past week in So Cal. Chilly rain to start and then the sun came out and said hello with an 85 degree smile.
My weekend was nice and relaxing, Mel and I saw the movie "Couples Retreat". It was cute with some funny one-liners. How was your weekend?

Lookbook: Cozy Sweats

by Heather
It's been a bit cool and rainy the last few days in Los Angeles, so I've been in the cozy sweats mode. Luckily I work in the fashion industry where anything goes. In the evenings I've been curling up with a cup of hot tea, watching Mad Men through Netflix, and uploading my jewelry designs to Etsy. Boy, it's time consuming but I'm so excited to get it launched! I'll be doing a give away soon for all the wonderful UH readers!

Sweats by Alternative Apparel; necklace by Heirra; Vintage bracelet by Saint Thrift; boots by Miss Me (recently purchased from Endless for 50 bucks!)

Hope you're having a good week. Who's ready for Friday?!

Favorite Blog Lookbooks

by Heather

My google reader list is getting out of control! But I love looking at street style fashion though the blogger's lens. Here are some of my favorite lookbooks as of late.
via Natalie Off Duty. She's an adorable model living in LA. The jacket and beret really put this one over the top for me. And she knows how to work that sock trend.

via Caroline's Mode. The denim short trend going strong for fall. I love the dichotomy of this look: faux fur with shorts; nylons with rugged boots.

via Fashion Chalet. Beautifully mixed patterns.

via Altamira. Hanne Gaby Odiele leaving the Dries Van Noten show. The colors here are unexpectedly amazing together... and if you look close you'll see the cute tassels on her shoes.

via Altamira. Lara Stone during London fashion week. Her tee dress is way cool, and the perfect splash of color. Something happened to her shoes though... or is this an emerging trend? ;)

via Love Maegan. Great colors -- elegant and fun. Her goldie locks are perfection, always.

What are some of your favorite blogs? Any lookbook blogs that will hook me in?

Oh, and does anyone know how to change the original blue link color for Blogger? Melanie and I can't figure it out!
Hope you like the new look. Isn't Melanie's new header drawing amazing?! I'm so impressed with my big sis. Lil' sis can't even draw a stick figure.

Men Are From Mars.....

photo via runway daily

Awhile back I was reading one of ...loveMaegan's blog posts (I'm sure you are all familiar with her AMAZING, unique, stylish, fashionista blog) and she was stating how she would just LOVE an outfit but sometimes her husband would NOT. That made me laugh because a.) her outfit was soooo cute and b.) my boyfriend sometimes says that!
Perfect Example:
Soprano dress from Loehmans

This is a dress that I LOVE. My bf said he didn't really like it. What??? Sometimes I think men do not understand fashion. But he's stylish too so I didn't quite understand how he didn't just love this outfit as much as I did! Well, he said it didn't show my figure and he didn't understand the tie dye part of it (uh, ombre, silly, it's soo in).

Gyspy 05 dress via the smart stylist

What do you think? Do some men just don't understand fashion for women? Or is my loose ombre dress just not that cute?
