Eat Pray Love

By Melanie

I read the book Eat, Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert during my flight home from Phuket, Thailand two years ago (blogged about here). I loved this book! I loved how she decided to find herself in her late 30's rather than just blindly following society's plan of how she should live life. This is an inspirational story. I think any girl who likes to take her own path in life will love it. Not only was her self discovery so interesting to read, the travels in her book were so exciting, especially Italy!

If you haven't read the book, please do! The movie is coming out this summer (I think August). I can't wait! This movie is going to make me really want to travel!

Part 3 - The Destination Wedding - Cocktail hour and Reception

By Melanie

After the ceremony, it was time for the cocktail hour with drinks and appetizers at the outside bar lounge area and of course time for taking lots of photos of family and friends.

Me and my sister.

My friend Mya.

My friend Ursula (check out her blog at Traveling Mango -it's awesome!)

Although the photographers did a great job capturing so many moments, I wish we would have designated someone to organize the photo shoot. It was a little challenging for the photographer to get everyone to cooperate. I think everyone was already in party mode and having fun. Who could blame them! We took advantage of this and took some couple photos.

My favorite! I love our reflection in the tide pool.

After the cocktail hour we held the reception in an air conditioned room that overlooked the water. This was a good decision since it was 90 degrees and windy.

Now I know that most guests do not like to participate in a dance train during a reception so we did NOT plan this. But family and friends are so fun they decided to start one on their own. Everyone had a blast and dance the day away!

Here we are dancing to our song, Sea of Love by Cat Power. This song was so perfect for us. I get so teary eyed when I here it on my ipod.
I feel like the luckiest girl to marry Brian and have so many of my family and friends with me to celebrate. Perfect ending to the best day of my life!

Bags, Tags & Travel

By Melanie

Summer is a great time to travel. Most places are sunny and warm, work seems to be a little less hectic and summer is just such a care free season.

I probably won't be vacationing this summer since I just had a destination wedding but if I were to plan a vacation (maybe I can squeeze in a weekend getaway) I would love to add one of these bag tags to my luggage.

How fun are these?

Found at Shoestring Home.

Any summer vacations planned?

A cute hair style for summer

By Melanie

source: www.stylefrizz.com

When I was a little girl, one of my favorite hair styles was braids. My Mom would put my hair in the prettyiest french braids. I loved them and I still do today! I'm so excited to see them still around for summer 2010.

The style is so fresh and fun! I also love the effortless wavy hair that results from taking out the braids.

I usually wear this style all summer long.

The updo braid is perfect for a casual day at the beach or pool.
I often wonder what other people think of braids. Is it just for the trendy? Do guys like it? Does it look like your trying to channel your barbie playing days?
What's your thoughts?

Sleeping Beauty

By Melanie

Now that summer is finally here it's time to retire my Victoria's Secret Pink sweats and hoodie and introduce some pretty nightgowns.
Some cute little numbers that I've been eyeing online at Victoria's Secret.

These are so perfect. I want each color!
