Sweetheart finds

I lieu of earth day just passing, I'd like to feature my favorite jewelry line, Heart by Heather. This amazing jewelry not only incorporates beautiful style but honors the earth as well. It is made solely from fair trade, eco-friendly and socially-conscious materials. The designer, Heather, designs and crafts all the jewelry herself and sources the materials from around the globe to create unique, fashion-forward, high-quality jewelry. All the jewelry is made from gemstones, pearls, sterling silver or 24k pink gold vermeil.
Below are a few of my favorite pieces.

This necklace is made from aquamarine gemstone and 24k pink gold vermeil. I love the heart charm on the back of the chain. Part of her signature style.

This one is so cool. The bracelet wraps twice around your wrist. I love how it's feminine yet funky. Rose Quartz chips interspersed with mauve coin pearls, accented by tiny 24k pink gold vermeil beads and closed with a pink gold toggle.

I love charms! Adorned on this 99.9% pure fine silver hammered chain beads are 99.9% pure fine silver square charms: cherry chalcedony coins, carved rose quartz drop, 24k pink gold vermeil rose charm.

Sweet 'n Wild. 99.9% pure silver twist tube bead chain with triangle toggle closure accented with a 24K pink gold vermeil heart charm and black silver plain tag charm.

I like to call this "these aren't your grandma's pearls" bracelet! Actually my grandma loves this one and wears it all of the time. She's the most stylish Grandma around!

Another favorite! Sterling silver chain anchored by sodalite gemstone sandwiched with mauve pearl coins.

The best part of her jewelery, besides looking so hot and hip, no one else at the party will have it on (don't you hate that)!

So unique! 99.9% pure fine silver ear wires with a cascade of 24k gold vermeil chains.

Ooh, the matching necklace to the earrings above!

For those of you that like a little more rock and roll style let me introduce the "Beautiful Wildness" necklace. 99.9% pure fine silver handmade rope chain and toggle with three chipped "dirty" blue.

I have a few of her pieces and dying to add more to my collection. Heather is my sister, so she let's me borrow, as well as gifted me with a few of her pieces. Any time I wear them, I get lots of compliments! I love the perks of having a jewelry designer sister :)

Below are some of the ones I own.

This one is my favorite. Tiny hearts. Did you know that in prehistoric times the heart was a procreative symbol of female powers? Interesting...

Heather is one talented gal. And I'm not saying that just because she's my sis! Check out her etsy shop for more fabulous finds!

Mmmmm....

When I'm feeling down, a little ice cream always makes me feel better! I had a laser treatment on my ankle on Thursday to remove my birthmark. Third treatment and it doesn't look much better than when I started. For years I have felt self-conscious about it when I wear a skirt and shorts so I decided to finally get it removed. I am hoping the laser treatment works. We'll see...I think a little ice cream will uplift my mood :)

Even though I LOVE Pinkberry, actually my favorite is Red Mango (I'm a frozen yogurt conisseur), nothing beats an old-fashioned ice cream cone!

Happy Earth Day

Today is Earth Day! Well, at least a few more hours on the West Coast. I meant to post earlier but forgot to set it and had to run a few errands after work. We can make it Earth Week right?!

Today, I tried to do my best to REUSE, REDUCE & RECYLCE.

If we don't take care of our home, one day we won't be able to do this:

Relax and have fun at the park and beach!

Enjoy clean water and air.

Have seasons! Even though in California we don't get "real" seasons (yet it does get pretty cool in the winter) I want to know that I can go to Ohio (where I grew up) and there will still be seasons!
Walking to the farmers market to buy some flowers.

And of course share our earth with some adorable polar bears!

Every little thing you do to help the earth makes a difference! Be a part of the solution not the problem :)

Our Love Story

Our love story began when I moved into the same apartment building in Huntington Beach, CA. Although we were friendly neighbors it took months before he asked me out. One night my other neighbor and friend was having a birthday party and she invited both me and Brian. Finally we were able to communicate more than a quick hello in passing. That was the beginning of our love story and just recently after 8 (yes 8!) years of dating he proposed.

This past Saturday was the most romantic day of my life. He asked me to go to lunch on a beautiful sunny California day and on our way to "lunch", he advised that he needed to make a quick stop. As we were driving up the coast in Palos Verdes, he pulled over to this beautiful cliff that overlooked miles of ocean.

We got out of the car and went for a walk along the cliff side to admire the beauty. I took a few photos of the ocean and the lighthouse that was on the edge of the cliff.

Just as I finished taking the photo above, I turned to the side and there was Brian on one knee. "My love for you is as big as this ocean and I want you to be my wife. Will you marry me?" he said. A few seconds past because I was so surprised and he smiled and said in the cutest voice "I'm nervous". I said "Yes, of course I will." He placed the ring on my finger and we kissed and hugged. We stayed for awhile and enjoyed the moment.

On our way home he played a mixed cd that he made for after the proposal. It was songs that made him think of me such as Stevie Wonder's "You are the sunshine of my life" and Jane’s Addiction "Classic Girl".

All I can say is that this moment was worth the wait.

P.S. I am getting the ring sized so I'll have a photo of it in a later post. I wanted to take a picture of it once it fit my finger. So pretty.

I've been going 1 -2x per week for the last year or so at Yoga Works. I'd like to go more and get better. I love yoga. It feels amazing and gives you a great yoga bootie :)

3. Travel
by simple moth via flickr

As you know I am just dying to go to Greece (Athens, Mykonos and Santorini) this summer. Saving.....

4. Kayaking

I've been wanting to try this for soooo long. Maybe this weekend. It's suppose to be 80 degrees. Yay!

5. Hike

This photo is from a hike from last summer at El Moro canyon (Crystal Cove - Newport Beach). Gorgeous views.

6. Cook

I need to make dinner for my honey way more often. BTW the above photo is a veggie burger (I'm a vegetarian).

Hmmm.. a veggie cake? I love veggies but not as a cake. Maybe that's just a dip for the veggies.

Food photos from Allure Magazine

7. Read

photo by Dawn Endico vFont sizeia flickr

I love to read business, marketing and finance books. And just because it's a must for the summer, I'll throw in a fun read too. Last year I read Eat Love Pray by Elizabeth Gilbert. Great book! I recommend it!

8. Have fun!

Sally Field as Gidget: photo via fifties web

Anyone remember that show Gidget? I know, it super old school. I think it's a show from the 70's or maybe even the 60's. if you are under 30 or at least under 25 you won't know what I am talking about. I never saw the originals of course but I remember watching reruns on Nick at Nite as a kid. It was such a fun show. Sally Field was adorable too!

3 Day Weekends Rule

photo by antonis shen via flickr

Thanks to Easter I had Friday off of work. It was so nice!

Easter always reminds me of girly pastel colored dresses and hats. Growing up my mom would put me and my sister in the cutest Easter outfits. Actually every holiday we had fun ruffly dresses.

My mom also liked to dress us as twins.

Unfortunately, this weekend won't be all fun. I procrastinated and I have to do my taxes still. Eeek!

I know I'll feel like this afterwards.

photo by simon pais-thomas via flickr

Hopefully it won't take too long and I can have some fun....

And relaxation!

To all that are celebrating Easter: Happy Easter and everyone else have a wonderful weekend!
