It's a Wrap!

This must be the month for birthdays: my friend Christy, my boyfriend's Mom, a bunch of co-workers and me of course! Lots of us capricorns out there! Over the past weekend I went to Christy's birthday party. Part of her gift was a gift certificate - yes, I know boring and unoriginial. Hey, she's tough to buy for and I have been really busy. But I did take the extra time to dress it properly! Paper Source is great place for all you gift wrapping needs. They offer gift wrap in fun designs and lots of pretty colors. I bought some pink flower paper, a gift bag and ribbon. AND btw, the wrapping paper is recycled!

My gift to Christy. Don't you love the green and pink!

A sad day in LA for music fans

Today, my favorite radio station Indie 103.1 went off the air. This station played the BEST music. If any of you are familiar with this station, I'm sure you'll agree. A few years ago, my boyfriend, who is very into music, introduced Indie to me and the station set in my car has not changed since. Indie played cutting edge music far from the normal corporate radio fluff. In addition to talented artists, they featured amazing on air personalities. The only silver lining is that they are still online and will feature music there but unfortunately none of the disc jockeys or cool programs. Indie you will be missed.

Let's get under the covers

As you know, I am in the process of redecorating the spare room. I am almost finished. Just missing a few final touches. So, I have been looking for a stylish headboard that will complete the bed. I love a cozy comfy bed. You know, the kind that makes you so happy to crawl into and makes it so difficult to get out of in the morning. But of course function is not the only prerequisite. It must be cute too!

The yellow really stands out with the white bed.

Pink fushia color! I think this one may be my favorite!

Not exactly a traditional headboard but it works! Loving the lamps!

Oooh, all white. So clean and crisp. Doesn't a white room with splashes of color look amazing?

I like this take on a headboard- painted on. And boy, doesn't that bed look so cozy? I love fluffy pillows.
This is a heiress headboard for sure! And my favorite color!

All You Need Is LOVE

When I saw this love candy print by the talented Jennifer Ramos at Madebygirl, I instantly fell head over heals in love with it. These prints are soooo cute! Most of them are now hand silk-screened and printed on 100% recycled paper (you know how I like being green) and come in lots of fun colors! How can you ask for more! They are the perfect print for a bedroom or really anywhere in the house where you want to sprinkle a little love.

Cool and pretty.

Birthday Blues

To drown my tears about turning another year older *cry, sniffle, cry*, I decided to self medicate with a little shopping and treat myself to an early birthday present. Although my birthday isn't until next week, I thought I would start celebrating now! Woohoo! I've been wanting to buy a pair of Ray Ban sunglasses forever. So what better time than the present. I think they are such a classic and will stay in style long after the hipsters toss them aside ;P

It's Easy Being Green

Photo via reusablebags.com

Resolution #1: Be More Green. I try to do my part and be eco-friendly but for 2009 I am going to try to do much much more. I am proud to say that I have been using reusable grocery bags way before it became trendy ;p Yes, I was one of the first to confuse countless check out persons and endure strange looks and snickers from the other shoppers in line. (Well, maybe not one of the first ;) But now it's catching on-yippie! I am no longer made to feel like a wierdo or kookie tree hugger. Did you know that in Europe they charge customers for bags? I think that's a great idea. Ikea is the only store here that I know of that does that. The Euros are such trendsetters :) BYOB now has a new meaning! Let's all jump on board and free up some space in the landfill this year!

One of my favorite stores to shop at for sustainable products is reusablebags.com. This site is a one stop shop featuring various brands of reusable grocery bags, cotton totes, water bottles and more. My absolute favorite reusable market bags are Envirosax. They come in such cool colors and designs. My favorite are the graphic series, specifically the Mikado pouch collection. Although you can buy them individually, they also offer the option of buying 5 all at once. The 5 bag option comes in this little easy to carry wristlet pouch. This way everything stays neat and organized. It's so convenient: no more excuses for not bringing your own bag. Not only is it so easy to do something great for our planet but you can look oh so faboulous doing it!

P.S. I also love cotton totes. They are great for Target trips and clothes shopping. I bought this one from Rock Paper Scissor during the summer. I take it everywhere!

Sidenote: I just couldn't resist bedazzling my tote with a little Obama flair :D

Let me check my calendar

I recently purchased a 2009 calendar from Orange Beautiful on their etsy site. There were a lot of cute calendars out there to choose from but once I spotted this one on their blog, The Scoop, I knew my search was over! I have always loved handwriting so naturally I have a love of fonts too. In addition to enjoying the fonts, I love the whole design of it. It's very elegant and stylish with a clean crisp look. What really is cool is that you can detach the bottom calendar portion after the month is over and then the calendar becomes a piece of artwork. It would look great to have all of the months hanging in a picture frame once the year ends.

Bye Bye 2008

Happy New Year!

Wow, can you believe it's 2009! I am excited for a fresh new year. I think it will be a good one. I rang in the new year in Downtown San Diego. We wined, dined and danced our booties off in the Gaslamp district. We had such a blast!

View from the hotel balcony.

As you can see in the picture above, I decided to go with a simple black dress. I wanted to buy the strapless pink one in the earlier post but they didn't have my size: boohoo. I guess that's what happens when you wait to the last minute.

New Year's day we went to lunch in Ocean Beach. Did you know that the OB pier is the longest peir in all of California?
