Kisses

photo via allure.com

In lieu of the big V day coming up, I was browsing for some hot and sexy (or at least pretty) make up looks. My favorite look is the smokey eye/pale lip (preferably glossy). I'm addicted to light colored lip gloss. I'm sure I have over 50 tubes of gloss, pretty much all shades of pink.

This look is sexy but still natural. And we know how guys love that ;)

I love the electric blue shimmer on the eye.

I think this one above is my favorite. I would make the lips glossy though ;)

I usually am not a fan of red, well at least not on me. But when done right, it looks gorgeous.

So pretty. I like it glossy and with the bare eyes. This one's my favorite red lips.

Not really sexy but still cute.

CAUTION: RED GONE WRONG

I DON'T recommend trying this one out for V day :p

Lets go travel!

Phuket Thailand

A friend of mine is going on a 3 month vacation traveling to Mexico, South America and Thailand. This past weekend she had a bon voyage party. She's only 24 so she has the luxury of taking a little work hiatus (lucky) and packing her bags to embark on a experience of a life time. I'm so envious *sigh.

When I was 22, my sister, a friend and I traveled to France and Spain. We stayed in hostels, which at that age is an awesome way to travel. It was an amazing time and great experience. I definately recommend to any young person to save money to travel abroad. It's so cool to see different countries, other cultures and meet new people. Especially when you're at an age where you have the freedom to do so.

Last year I was fortunate enough to go to Phuket, Thailand with some friends. This time no hostels ;) we traveled in style and stayed at the Marriott Hotel & Resort thanks to my friend who has a time share there. Since this trip, one of my goals is to travel out of the country every year. But since I am a little low on the funds (um like $0 for travel right now, not to mention a somewhat hefty credit card balance that I need to pay off) don't know if it's going to happen in 09. Right now I may have to settle for a trip down memory lane.

Phuket, Thailand Spring 2008

Patong Beach on Phuket. This is where the tsunami happened a few years back. So sad. They have rebuilt everything since. There were signs that said "If a Tsunami happens run for the hills".
So many Thai people on scooters. Even as many as four on one. Even little kids and babies. They must be reading the Britney Spear's parenting hand book ;p

This was my signature hair style the whole time there. It was so hot and humid, I didn't even try to do my hair.

Caution: major roots which make my hair look like it's dark brown (I prefer lighter on me).

View from the pool at the Mariott Hotel. This place was absolutely gorgeous.

Right outside the hotel there was a man with an elephant. Isn't it sooo darn cute! It was dancing. Don't laugh too hard at the fanny pack we were going for a hike that day. I know it's totally dorky :)
Check out the speedos!
I even got to ride an elephant! It was so much fun but I felt bad for the elephants because they looked a little old. I hope they treated them good.

We took a boat ride (got totally sea sick) and found some monkeys. People were feeding them bananas and watermelon.

Great vacation! Ooh, now I really want to travel so bad!

I have a lot of places I would like to travel to. My top 6:

#6 Sweden
#5 Hungary (I am 1/3 hungarian so it would be cool to check out my roots)

#4 Austraila
#3 Italy

#2 Costa Rica
#1 place I really really want to go to: The Greek Isles: Santorini and Mykonos

Doesn't it look so beautiful there? I love the architecture, the white buildings and the splashes of color. It's so quaint.

I recently saw the movie Mamma Mia and Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants (I admit it) and fell in love over and over again with Santorini.

Oh, I better start saving! What countries are on your "must travel to" list?

Brrrrr...

Rain rain go away, come back another day! Did you ever sing that song growing up when it rained and you wanted to play outside? I feel like singing it now :) Rain all weekend here in So Cal. Bummer! I know it's good for our planet :) but it's bad for my weekend plans! I like the rain at night when I am all cozy in bed but not during the day: I want sunshine! I get lazy with the rain. Well, at least it's a good excuse to stay in, kick back, watch a few movies and just RELAX. Have a well deserved relaxing weekend!

Kelly Wearstler - Bed linen edition

Above photo via Top Design

As promised....below are some pics of Kelly Wearstler's new luxury bed linen for Sferra. I love the textures and patterns! I also love how it's elegant yet soft and pretty. The design is not too crazy or from the 90's ;) More subdued. I think it's pretty and cozy: can totally picture sleeping for hours in it!

I really like the yellow pillow and that swirly blue one in the back.

So, unfortunately, I never watched Top Design and I missed Kelly Wearstler's over the top outfits and style. In addition, I'm not a huge design buff where I know the who's who of the design world. I really just like what I like, not because it's from a specific "in" designer. So, since my knowledge of Kelly Wearstler and her work is limited, I did a little research. Quite interesting to say the least. Many either love her style or hate it. Some say her design is too decade specific, like the 70's or the 90's (see earlier post). Many speculate that she is where she is today because she married a hotel developer (The Kor Group) and of course had the opportunity to decorate some of his hotels (the Viceroy, Avalon & Maison 140). The rumor is that she's a bit of an opportunist and has a great nack for self-promotion. BTW, she posed in Playboy in the 90's too (just thought that was interesting, definitely NOT judging). Well, I am not one to speculate (too much) and I have to say what's wrong with a little self promotion and working what you've got. I conclude that she has great fashion sense, is gorgeous of course and since I like most of her work, I'm all for her :)

Ready Set Go!

photo via Surf City Marathon
Yesterday I ran the Huntington Beach 5K! What a great way to start the first of the month! Even though a 5k isn't that far, 3.2 miles, it's so fun to run them. I love seeing all the active people, the energy of the crowd and of course the free goodies (Lara bars, Clif bars, Sambazon superfood bottled drinks). It was really cool to see the 1/2 and full marathon runners too. Now that's hard work. Not only the day of the race but the dedication to train! I am actually thinking about training for the OC 1/2 marathon in May. My friend who ran this race with me is running it. Still debating if I want to dedicate that much time. With work, my normal workout schedule and the Illustrator graphic design class that I am taking, it will be difficult to fit it in. I am so busy already but I have always wanted to run one so we'll see.
Before the race.

That's me in the middle.

After the race. Check out my surfboard medal (don't look too closely at the pic though-ugh sweaty and no make-up)!

It took me 31 minutes. Not as good as my usual 29 minute time. But I havn't been running too much lately.

The race was so early (7:15 Ugh!) but it was so nice to have my whole day ahead of me. For those of you that know me, you know that I am NOT a morning person. It was kinda cool to see how the early birds live. It turned out to be a gorgeous day so after the race I walked to my favorite coffee place for a soy latte and read the new Elle all before 9!

Anyone else run 5k's, 1/2 marathon or marathons?
