Lookbook: Cigs & Coffee

I'm a total coffee addict, but a cig has never touched my lips (and that's not analogous with with"I did not inhale"). The title of this post refers to the vintage scarf I won, which is called "Coffee and Cigarettes". The lovely Kristen sent it over from her online shop: Kdikio Vintage. I won it through a giveaway on Keiko Lynn's blog a few months ago....my lazy booty just got around to doing a lookbook post with it.


This scarf is so retro cool and on point with the menswear inspired trend. Thanks Kdikio Vintage! I love it.

I'm also deeply crushing on my beat-up Levis' jacket that I found thrifting a few weeks ago. It's perfectly organically distressed in all the right places.

P.S. When I was picking up some fresh coffee grounds at Whole Foods in Venice last night, I saw Rosario Dawson and her man. She looked cute, casually dressed with thick rim black glasses. Too bad she's not dating the Absolut Hunk anymore. I always get a thrill out of seeing clelebs in person.

I often wonder how so many celebrities get luscious long hair. Well, I know not everyone can be blessed with amazing hair so they must get a little help. Their secret is out and it's hair extensions!

I've been an admirer and user of hair extensions for quite some time.

Now they have clip in extensions! This is the best because they don't damage your hair like the real ones that are bonded in (which I've tried and don't recommend). Who ever invented them is such a genius!

You can buy them with the clips already attached for easy use or DIY.


The supplies for DIY (all under $100):

• 100% human hair weft bought at Sally's Beauy Supply store.
• Hair thread & needle.
• Hair clips.
• Scissors.

How to make the clip in hair extension pieces:

• Cut the weft into 4 sections: largest piece with three clips and three smaller two piece clip wefts (for the sides and lower end of the back of the head).
• Sew clips on the hair.

The biggest piece has 3 clips, two on each end and one in the middle. This piece is placed in the middle of your head in the back.

How to put the extension in your hair:

First, clip the top of your hair out of the way as shown below.

You will want to place the first clip in piece right below the crown of your head from ear to ear. You can also place an additional two clip weft under this one so your hair is a little longer in the back.

Then place a piece on each side. This weft piece is smaller with just two clips.

End result:

Long luscious hair! Looks very natural.

Sometimes I add curls for a glamorous look. Perfect for a special event or a night out on the town.

Bombshell hair instantly!

I also have a few clip in pieces that are shorter for daytime use. It just gives me just a little extra length and volume.

Since this is real human hair, you can wash, dry and style it just like your own. To store it, just keep in in a long tupperware container in a dry place (the sun can damage it).

A few downsides are that you can't really be too active with them in (ie bike riding, working out) and it can be a little akward if the boyfriend touches your hair or even when friends hug you. They make feel a slight bump in your head but don't worry it's not visible to the eye. Plus extensions are so common now, people won't think it's that wierd.

It's so nice to be able to have thick long hair for a great price!

Blogger Pick 3

My google reader is overflowing with style blogs. I just can't get enough. Here are some of my favorite street looks this week from some of my favorite bloggers.


Love More. An easy, yet exciting dress with a great silhouette. It's perfect to dress up or down. I'm itching for springtime dressing! But for now, I would pair it with a thick cable-knit over-sized sweater, gray lace nylons, and over-the-knee boots.

Cupcakes and Cashmere. This is one of my favorite looks from Emily. I have a very similar lace vintage top (hers is F21) -- I'll have to wear it in a lookbook post soon. I adore the nude pumps.


Beckerman Bite Plate. What an amazing DIY idea! I'm going to make a similar pair with a few less hearts. Note to self: also a great idea for a tee.

AND bonus pick (this is "pick 3" but I had to post this one too)...

Keiko Lynn. This dress is from Target - the Rodarte line!! The bows on the back are a nice touch and the lace texture (cotton nylon blend) is great. Must get thee to Target!

Just Add Water

Flowers are not just for Valentine's Day and birthdays (although they are nice to receive on those days). I like buying them for myself too. I love going to the farmers market (or even at Trader Joes) and picking up some pretty flowers for the table. Especially if I have a pretty vase to put them in.

Spotlight: Missoni Hotel

Scotland has never been on my "must travel to" list but after coming across the Hotel Missoni I'm thinking about adding it. Of course Scotland looks pretty nice too!

The hotel is located in Edinburgh, Scotland and it's such a treat to the eyes.

The decor is so pretty and fun. Of course you would only expect to find the most stylish hotel from such an amazing fashion house, right?
