Lookbook: Summer Tease

by Heather

The weather has been teasing us in Southern Cali. So I flirted with the hot sun over the weekend -- lounging by the pool, catching some rays.

Lookbook: PrettyFine Jewels

by Heather

I shot this lookbook to promote the re-design of the PrettyFine Jewelry site. It features one of my favorite pairs of earrings in the new Heirra collection. The collection is inspired by tropical getaways -- the perfect accessories for lazy summer days sipping Sangria's while watching the sunset.

I love the iridescent quality of the shells juxtaposed with the silver chains.

I'm still in the process of uploading the new jewelry to the site, but I would love to know what you guys think.

And stay tuned, I'm going to do a giveaway for the lovely UH readers!

Lookbook: Zipped Up

by Heather

Happy March! Wasn't it just NYE?! I'm in Yosemite right now with my boyfriend, but I snapped these photos last week.

I found this black denim jacket at a consignment shop a few months ago. I just adore it! The label is Contempo Casuals. Oh how I loved that store in high school, I worked there briefly too. It was my "F21" back then. Maybe I'm biased, but I think it was better before they were converted into Wet Seal/Arden B stores.

Lookbook: Stripe Sweater

By Heather

I love this vintage sweater, but it has a few small stains in front, so I was thinking of cropping it. But this belt did the trick too, hides all the stains.

Vintage sweater; Italian black blazer (label fell out, 7-8 yrs old); Heirra heart necklace; long necklace from The Limited circa mid 90s (yes, I've had it that long!); Boots by 2 Prima (old, also seen here and here); Leggings from F21; Belt from random boutique on Main St in SM (also seen here).

I hope everyone is off to a good start this week. I've been so busy, this month is flying by. I started taking graphic design classes, I'm working on a new jewelry collection, and I'm in the process of moving to San Diego!

Lookbook: Croissant Head

by Heather

My boyfriend endearingly calls this the "croissant" 'd0. I guess it looks like a croissant from certain viewpoints. It's my go-to 'do for hot-tubbing at the condo.

I just got this burnout silver throw-over from Alternative Apparel. I think this is going to be a spring/summer '10 staple for me; it's cute, easy and neutral.

I love this lavender colored bodysuit from AA. But, it's not the best ensemble to wear out...what happens when you have to use the Ladies' room? I'd happily pay a few dollars more for some efficient baby snaps.

Lookbook: Cigs & Coffee

by Heather
I'm a total coffee addict, but a cig has never touched my lips (and that's not analogous with with"I did not inhale"). The title of this post refers to the vintage scarf I won, which is called "Coffee and Cigarettes". The lovely Kristen sent it over from her online shop: Kdikio Vintage. I won it through a giveaway on Keiko Lynn's blog a few months ago....my lazy booty just got around to doing a lookbook post with it.

This scarf is so retro cool and on point with the menswear inspired trend. Thanks Kdikio Vintage! I love it.

I'm also deeply crushing on my beat-up Levis' jacket that I found thrifting a few weeks ago. It's perfectly organically distressed in all the right places.

Levis denim jacket from thrift shop; vintage scarf from Kdikio Vintage ; top by Samsonite (old); trousers by Laundry by Sheli Segal (old); shoes by Michael Kors (old); banana bangle from PrettyFine Jewelry; Mother of Pearl chip Necklace from PrettyFine Jewelry; Pearl & Gemstone bracelet from Heirra.

P.S. When I was picking up some fresh coffee grounds at Whole Foods in Venice last night, I saw Rosario Dawson and her man. She looked cute, casually dressed with thick rim black glasses. Too bad she's not dating the Absolut Hunk anymore. I always get a thrill out of seeing clelebs in person.

Blogger Pick 3

by Heather
My google reader is overflowing with style blogs. I just can't get enough. Here are some of my favorite street looks this week from some of my favorite bloggers.

Love More. An easy, yet exciting dress with a great silhouette. It's perfect to dress up or down. I'm itching for springtime dressing! But for now, I would pair it with a thick cable-knit over-sized sweater, gray lace nylons, and over-the-knee boots.

Cupcakes and Cashmere. This is one of my favorite looks from Emily. I have a very similar lace vintage top (hers is F21) -- I'll have to wear it in a lookbook post soon. I adore the nude pumps.

Beckerman Bite Plate. What an amazing DIY idea! I'm going to make a similar pair with a few less hearts. Note to self: also a great idea for a tee.

AND bonus pick (this is "pick 3" but I had to post this one too)...

Keiko Lynn. This dress is from Target - the Rodarte line!! The bows on the back are a nice touch and the lace texture (cotton nylon blend) is great. Must get thee to Target!

Lookbook: Tree Hugger

by Heather
I spotted this incredible tree walking to the ocean over the weekend -- so much texture and character. And a perfect place for me to rest. My boyfriend and I ended up walking over 2 hours throughout Santa Monica. We had lunch at Amelia's on Main Street, walked barefoot on the sand, and played around on the pier. It was a beautiful day.

Of course I wasn't wearing this ensemble, we went back Sunday to shoot some photos.

Running errands in comfort.

Tweed hat by Alternative Apparel; sweater from H&M; black silk tank from Alternative Apparel; leggings from American Apparel; handbag by DKNY; geometric silver bracelet by Heirra; rings by PrettyFine Jewelry; earrings by PrettyFine Jewelry; boots by Dolce Vita; striped scarf from H&M.

Is everyone getting settled into 2010? I've been contemplating the new year, the new decade. Figuring out the direction I would like to take.
Although, I'm not a fan of making new year's resolutions -- the half-hearted response, "oh yeah, I would like to do this and these changes would be cool." Only 5% of these resolutions are achieved. Instead, I like to think about how I want to grow as a person and the experiences I would like to have. I already have a few exciting changes in the pipeline for this year (can't wait to share them with you when the time comes!). Overall, I'm setting my sights on learning, traveling and strengthening relationships.

Lookbook: Sofalite

by Heather

Sorry for the lack of posting lately, I've just been so busy jet-setting sofa lounging. It's tough being an [underfunded] heiress. ;)

Hope everyone has a fantastic NYE! Whoo-hoo 2010! What's everyone doing? Me, Mel, and our boyfriends will be celebrating with a low-key dinner and drinks tonight.
I'm excited for the new year, making some moves in the right direction. I think it's going to be a good one!
